Basic Information Telescope: Spitzer Campaigns: MIPS006300 = GO2 (2006 Jan) MIPS010800 = GO3a (2007 Jan) MIPS011900 = GO3b (2007 May) ReqModeName: MipsScan PI: David B. Sanders Program Title: SCOSMOS-DEEPMIPS Program IDs: 20070+30143 MIPS Bands: 70 and 160um SSC Versions: S14+S15+S16 Five AORs were lost due to downlink issues and were re-observed in 2008 Jan (GO3c). These last observations will be included in the future version 3 delivery. II. Calibration: Adopted SSC S14-S16 calibration conversion from instrumental units to MJy/sr: 70um conversion_factor = 702 MJy/sr per MIPS70unit (7% uncertainty, Gordon et al. 2007, PASP) and 160um conversion_factor = 44.7 MJy/sr per MIPS160unit (12% uncertainty). MIPS calibration based on stellar SEDs and no color corrections have been applied. Users should apply the appropriate color corrections. Note that the official 160um conversion factor has recently decreased to 41.7 MJy/sr per MIPS160unit (Stansberry et al. 2007, PASP), but the 160um version-2 products have not been corrected for this calibration update. Recommended scaling of source fluxes to place on nu-fnu scale (for galaxies) with the latest official calibration: 70um: S(galaxies) = S(Column_4)/0.918 160um: S(galaxies) = (41.7/44.7)*S(Column_4)/0.959 where 0.918 and 0.959 are the color corrections given by Stansberry et al. 2007. The data are placed on the proper scale for the version 3 products. IV. Data Processing (1) MIPS-70 data were processed with the GeRT starting with the RAW data to make the filtered BCDs (fBCDs), following Frayer et al. 2006a,b (xFLS, AJ, 131, 250; GOODS-N, ApJ, 647, L9). Filtering artifacts can be seen around bright sources in the over-scan region for the GO3b observations (northern region of map). These artifacts are fixed for the version 3 products. (2) MIPS-160 filtered BCDS from the SSC archive. These data have not been corrected for the short-term stim latents which have been fixed for the version 3 products. (3) Data co-added using MOPEX. The "std" noise image does not include the effects of pixel-to-pixel correlated noise or confusion noise. The "cov" coverage map is the number of input fBCDs per position on the sky and includes both the medium scan-rate 4.19s frames and the longer slow scan-rate frames of 10.49s. (4) Source extraction lists were made using APEX. Lists cut at the peak (PRF) signal-to-noise ratio of S/N>7. The photometric results have not been fully validated. In particular, careful background subtraction, deblending, and noise optimization has not yet been done. These are preliminary source lists; use at your own risk.. Improved source extraction techniques have been carried out for the version 3 products. V. Future Delivery. These version 2 products were produced in the summer of 2007. The improved version 3 products are planned to be available with the submission of the data paper in late fall 2008 (Frayer et al. 2009, in preparation). Version 3 is the last planned delivery for the S-COSMOS MIPS-Ge products and includes the GO3c (2008 Jan) observations. Frayer 15Aug2008
