1. Overview
===============================================================================

The Spitzer IRAC/MUSYC Public Legacy Survey in the Extended Chandra Deep Field
South (SIMPLE) consists of deep IRAC observations (several hours per pointing)
covering the 0.5 x 0.5 deg area surrounding the GOODS CDF-South. This 
low-background region of the sky has by far the best supporting data of any   
cosmological survey field of comparable area, with deep observations from the 
X-rays to the thermal infrared.                                               
                                                                              
The SIMPLE data release 1 (DR1) comprises a full reduction and mosaics of all 
IRAC observations in channel 1,2,3, and 4 (at 3.6, 4.5, 5.8, and 8.0 micron), 
a photometric catalog with IRAC-detected sources, and documentation of the    
procedures used for reduction and photometry. Note, this release contains the 
10' x 15' GOODS IRAC mosaics (DR3; reduction version 0.3) in the center                              
(http://data.spitzer.caltech.edu/popular/goods/20051229_enhanced_v1/). The    
SIMPLE observations were carried out in two epochs. We also provide mosaics of
de data of the individual epochs (without GOODS).                             
                                                                              
The raw data and details of the individual observations can be obtained from  
the Spitzer Archive (program number GO 20708; PI van Dokkum) with the Leopard 
software package (http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/propkit/spot/).
