SWIRE Image Atlas -- DR2 -- 20050603

Summary

Four SWIRE fields are included in this release: ELAIS-N1, ELAIS-N2, the
Lockman Hole, and the XMM-Large Scale Structure field.  Each field
encompasses 4-9 sq.  degree "science" mosaics, coverage maps, and
uncertainty maps.  The total number of Spitzer FITS images per field: 264 in EN1,
104 in EN2 ( also includes 3-color preview jpegs), 366 in Lockman, and 264
in XMM. The total volume is 72 GB.

1. Overview
=====================================================================

The DR2 image data release includes a large number of improvements to the
mosaic processing relative to data release 1, including corrections for
multiple bright object effects, new background handling, improved outlier
rejection, more robust mask handling, and an improved flux calibration
including array-position dependent corrections.  It also includes data 
formerly embargoed in the first data release. This data release supercedes 
the EN-1 data products found in the DR1 release. The user is urged to
replace any DR1 images with the improved mosaics found in DR2.

The SWIRE DR2 is supplemented by ancillary optical imaging
(updated July 26, 2005).

Source catalogs have been created for the SWIRE DR2 fields.
The EN1, EN2 and XMM catalogs are now available.
Additional tables will be made available to the public in
flat ascii format and through the IRSA Gator database
engines.  The release data for SWIRE catalog is mid-July.
